Mental Health First Aid Training Did you know that you are more likely to encounter someone experiencing an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack? Crosstown 10K

Celebrate and support good health at the third annual Crosstown 10K, benefitting Church Health! The Crosstown 10K is the second of four charitable foot races in the Run the 901 series produced by Start2Finish Racing and raises funds for Church Health. This 6.2 mile race begins and ends at Crosstown Concourse and features the diverse and picturesque neighborhoods around Crosstown, Overton Park and Rhodes College.

Open slots for 200 students for all youths in the surrounding areas which includes Arkansas and Mississippi.  Please be sure to fill out the attached registration form.

2019 Saturdays “Prep for Success Workshops” at Melrose High School located 2870 Deadrick Avenue. Each student will have an opportunity to review the four (4) basic content areas that are covered on the test. They will build their test taking skills and they will participate in a “mock” test under strict test conditions. Answers will be scored and given to the student so they may assess their strengths and weakness prior to taking the official ACT test. Please note: the first official 2019 ACT test will be Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Grades 9-12.  These three (3) sessions are free and comes with a free continental breakfast and lunch which will be served to participating students at each session.

TRUSTEE’S OFFICE ROLLS OUT EVENT CALENDAR FOR
FINANCIAL LITERACY MONTH

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – April is Financial Literacy Month and Shelby County Trustee David Lenoir will host a series of free events including financial education workshops, activities for youth and a financial fitness challenge to increase awareness and educate the community.

“There are more than 90,000 households in Shelby County who do not have access to traditional banking and the price of being under-served can add up,” Lenoir said. “Financial education combined with financial access are two key factors in building wealth. We are pleased to partner with community churches and our Bank On Memphis banking partners to provide the tools that will help families build their financial futures.”

On April 1 and 27, the Trustee’s Office will host its Project H.O.M.E. financial education workshops at Mt. Moriah Baptist Church East (1248 Haynes) from noon – 2 p.m., and Ed Rice Community Center (2907 N. Watkins) from 6 – 8 p.m. Project H.O.M.E. was developed in 2010 to help delinquent taxpayers with budgeting strategies.

The Financial Fitness Challenge is a four-week online plan designed to help people focus on their finances. Participants will have weekly assignments to help them reach their financial goals. The Trustee is partnering with First Baptist Church – Broad, Golden Gate Cathedral and St. Andrew AME Church. The challenge launches April 2.

One church, New Growth In Christ Christian Center, will be adopting the successful Mindset of an Entrepreneur class hosted by the Trustee’s Office. The class will be held each Wednesday during the month of April at 7 p.m.

Join us for Build a Webpage in a Day -Memphis! This workshop will teach participants to build their own unique webpage in one day using fun games and activities to introduce HTML, CSS, and basic web structure.

All BGC workshops are geared towards introducing tech divas to the technological universe and encouraging them to pursue careers as Tech Creators and Entrepreneurs. This event is intended for girls ages 9-17.
