Kindergarten Teacher STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School is currently seeking a Highly Qualified, classroom teacher who possesses an Apprentice or Professional Tennessee Teaching License in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education. 7. Experience with meeting the needs of ALL levels of students within a classroom setting and closing the learning gap with students performing below grade level 8. Highly skilled in student and parent relations

English Language Learners (ELL) Teacher (Part-time) STAR Academy Charter School is currently seeking a certified ELL teacher who is passionate about helping our English Language Learners become proficient in the English language and accessing their grade-level curriculum. Applicants must also be highly skilled in the following areas:  Administering diagnostic and state mandated assessments of English Language Learners.  Evaluating, determining goals for and tracking progress of individual English language learners, and communicating with faculty, students and families.  Maintaining ELL records.  Supporting students.  Providing direct ELL instruction to small groups of students and/or providing inclusion support for ELA classes containing ELL students, based on case load.  Working specifically with ELL students during assigned periods of the day on helping to access general education curriculum and build ELA skills.  Supporting student use of additional technology-enhanced learning tools to support ELL students’ language acquisition.  Advising teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ELL students and sharing best practices to ensure high quality content instruction and learning is attained.

Teacher Assistant/Co-Teacher STAR Academy Charter School is currently seeking a Highly Qualified teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher with monitoring student learning, administering academic interventions, and managing day-to-day classroom operations. Qualified applicants must have a passion for urban education, have high academic and social expectations for students, and enjoy collaborating with a team in an innovative environment. Experience with implementing Response to Intervention Programs and preparing students for state mandated tests is a “plus.” Associates Degree or Higher, preferred.

Substitute Teachers STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School is currently seeking skilled individuals to substitute teach during the 2015-2016 school year. This is a two-day event that begins with a Health & Wellness Fair on Saturday where parents will receive vouchers for ALL youth to receive FREE haircut, hair styling (to first 500 children), uniforms, backpacks, school supplies and shoes on Sunday! There will be food, fun, and the Southeast Memphis/Hickory Hill community coming together to ensure their students are positioned for success. Notaries will be present to help with residency paperwork and vendors including Universal Parenting Place, Porter Leath and Shelby County Crimes Victims Services and Rape Crisis Center will be in attendance.

The St Paul Baptist Church will host its annual Health Fair and Back To School Picnic Sunday, August 3rd from 12:30PM to3:30PM.

This is an event like no other because not only will the church give away backpacks full of school supplies, free vision screenings and free haircuts, but kids will also enjoy a game truck, inflatable bouncer, inflatable basketball goal, a race car from Autobahn Indoor Speedway, face painting and Camaro Kings and Queens Car Show will also be onsite.

Parents can get blood pressure screenings and HIV testing at this event also.

Even though food trucks and Parker’s Water ice will be onsite, the church will provide free hamburgers and hot dogs to guests.

This event is open to the public and will take place at St. Paul Baptist Church located at 2124 East Holmes Road. Children must be present to receive school supplies. Documentation not required.
