Memphis Urban League and S.O. What! Alternative Spring Break  <—-Register Here!

The Memphis Urban League (MUL) will partner with S.O. What! LLC to host their first alternative spring break program for girls in the city of Memphis. The program will be open for 6th- 8th grade students to participate in a three day camp starting March 12th. Participants will complete workshops created by Summer Owens, President and CEO of S.O. What!, addressing self-esteem, bullying, teen pregnancy, and goal-setting. This program will be an extension of the Project Ready: GIRL POWER program MUL hosts at Westside Achievement Middle and Northside High School currently funded by the Women’s Foundation of Memphis.

This program is open to 6th-8th female students who reside in Shelby Country. It is scheduled to take place from March 12th- 14th, 9 AM until 2 PM, at no-cost to the attendees. Full participation is required. Drop off hours will be from 8:30 AM- 8:55 AM; pick up hours 2:00 PM-2:30 PM. Students will be provided breakfast, lunch and snacks during program hours.

Program participants and at least one parent/legal guardian will be required to attend a mandatory meeting on March 5th at 5:30 PM to complete program paperwork and receive Summer Owen’s book “Life After Birth: A Memoir of Survival and Success as a Teenage Mother”.
