Job Summary: Greet families visiting the organization and provide supervision for children in the child care areas, maintaining organizational standards, preparation of reports and documentation.

Responsibilities:

 Provides welcome, referral and orientation for clients and families.

o Welcome children and their families who come to the organization for services.

o Work closely with direct service providers, linking children and adults with appropriate staff.

o Provide agency orientation for new client families.

 Provide trauma-informed care and engagement for children while parent(s) are meeting with staff and service providers.

 Monitor and maintain the child play areas for safety and appearance per organization standards.

 Assists receptionist with monitoring children in lobby play area.

 Complete required reports, documentation and data entry.

 Attends training and workshops on trauma and child care related issues as directed by supervisor.

 Handles client and office grocery ordering, pickup, stocking, inventorying, reporting, and maintenance of break room, following required standards.

 Serves as backup for Receptionist, handling clients, visitors and telephone calls.

 Other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience

 High school diploma or GED required.

 Minimum of two years experience in child care, social services or other related field.

The Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County, Inc. is a non-profit organization located in Memphis, TN, whose purpose is to effectively combine civil, criminal, health and social services in order to help victims of family violence. We are seeking a Navigator who is highly motivated to assist clients and process their individualized needs through the various services provided with partner agencies. This position will report to the Director of Client Services and will be an integral part of the growth of the organization. This is a grant funded position.

Job Summary: Assists clients in accessing services from on-site partners that accommodate the individual needs of the client.

Performs intake procedures to efficiently and effectively process clients through the organization. Provides consultation, case management and information, completes administrative records, performs client follow-up, assists with and participates in professional development activities and client community outreach.

Responsibilities:

Provides welcome and trauma-informed assessments, referral and follow-up.

 Welcomes clients and their families, assuring that the delivery of service is client centered and seamless.

 Works with volunteers to provide light refreshments and rest during the delivery of service.

 Assure that children receive child care while the client is receiving services.

 Coordinates schedules for appointments with partner agencies and clients; assists with follow-up for missed appointments.

 Provides and secures information from partner agencies based on client needs.

 Assists partners with client information and makes referrals to community agencies when appropriate.

 Assists clients with completing application for social service assistance, i.e., rent, utility, medication, clothing, transportation and victim’s compensation.

Provides consultation and case management.

 Consults with appropriate staff and partner agencies regarding client needs and problems.

 Completes the Danger Assessment and Safety Planning intake.

 Assists in consultation and education services to other agencies and organizations.

Completes all administrative records pertaining to clients and caseload assignments.

 Establishes and maintains client records and complies with all requirements related to documentation of services rendered.

 Completes clients statistical documentation/reports by established deadlines.

 Prepares and submits proper summaries and reports to other agencies and professionals promptly and in accordance with confidentiality protocols.

Assists with and participates in professional development activities and client and community outreach.

 Assists with the organization, preparation and provision of professional development activities for the organization and other professionals.

 Assists with the development and delivery of programs and activities promoting client outreach. Performs other duties as assigned.

Skills and Abilities

 Working knowledge of domestic violence dynamics and its impact on children and families.

 Ability to communicate with a wide range of children and families from different cultural backgrounds.

 Knowledge of community resources.

 Working knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on children and families.

 Demonstrated computer experience with word processing or varied software required.

Education and Experience

 Undergraduate degree in social work or similar discipline from an accredited program with at least two years direct client contact; or an associate degree with life experience and at least two years of client contact.

 Two years experience in providing direct service to domestic violence victims.

Family Safety Center Child Care Worker

Job Purpose:   To greet families visiting the Family Safety Center and provide supervision for children in the child care waiting area.


Skills and Qualification:

High school diploma required.  At least 2 years experience in child care, social services, or other related field.  Good relationship skills; sensitivity to cultural/ ethnic differences; and ability to work as part of a team.

 

Experience & Knowledge:

 

  • Welcome children and their families who come to the FSC for services provided to families that have been exposed to family violence.
  • Works closely with FSC and its direct service providers to provide seamless service for visitors while at the agency, linking children and adults with appropriate staff.
  • Provide Agency Orientation to families arriving at the Center for the first time.
  • Engage children and care for the children while their parents meet with FSC Center Navigators and direct service providers.
  • Monitor and maintain the playroom for safety and appearance, in accordance with agency standards
  • Complete required reports and minimal data entry, as needed
  • Other duties as directed.
  • A minimum of 12-hours in-service training is required.  Attendance at conferences and workshops may be included as part of the 12-hour minimum.  Six hours of the annual training must be provided by sources outside of the agency.
  • Regularly attends FSC Staff meetings
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 

 

Salary

$23,500 – $24,780 (commensurate with experience)

TITLE:  FSC Center Navigator

REPORTS TO: Program Operations Director of FSC of Memphis and Shelby County

OVERVIEW:   The Family Safety Center of Memphis and Shelby County (FSC) is an initiative of the Shelby County Crime Commission, Operation: Safe Community, Strategy 14. As a result of that initiative, the FSC collaborates with more than 20 government and community agencies to offer holistic support services to victims of intimate partner violence. Our mission is to effectively combine civil, criminal, health and social services in one location in a seamless delivery of services.

The Center Navigator position will be the gateway for which clients enter the FSC’s system of delivery of services. The Intake procedure is designed to create a non-intrusive way in which to efficiently and effectively process a client through the FSC. This person provides consultation, case management and information as a referral, completes necessary administrative records pertaining to work related activities and follow up with assigned clients.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  •  Conduct an intake needs assessment for the client requesting service.
  • Coordinate and connect the client to the appropriate agency based on the outcomes of the needs assessment.
  • Coordinate schedules for appointments with partner agencies and clients. Assist with following up for missed appointments.
  • Provides and secures information from FSC partner agencies based on client needs
  • Assists FSC partners with client information and makes referrals to community agencies when appropriate
  • Follow up with clients that receive services from the FSC in a timely manner.
  • Assure that children receive child care while the client is receiving services at the FSC.

Provides consultation and case management

  • Consult with appropriate FSC staff and partner agencies staff regarding client needs and problems.
  • Completes the Lethality Assessment during intake.
  • Assists in consultation and education services to other agencies and organizations.
  • Regularly attends FSC staff meetings.

Completes all administrative records pertaining to work related activities and assigned caseloads

  • Establishes and maintains clients records and complies with all requirements related to documentation of services rendered.
  • Completes clients’ statistical documentation/reports by established deadlines.
  • Prepares and submits proper summaries and reports to other agencies and professionals promptly and in accordance with confidentiality protocols.

  • Obtains mandatory continued learning education hours annually.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: 

  • Ability to thoughtfully communicate with and respectfully engage diverse with the client and partner agencies.
  • Direct experience working with government and/or local community agencies.
  •  A Bachelor’s degree required. Masters level training in Criminal Justice or Social Work preferred. Minimum of two years’ experience with responsibilities relevant to duties.
  • Working knowledge domestic violence dynamics and its impact on children and families.
  • Ability to communicate with a wide range of children and families from different cultural backgrounds.
  • Knowledge of community resources.
  • Working knowledge of alcohol and drug abuse and its impact on children and families.
