Award-winning musician Rev. John Kilzer hosts The Way, a service of recovery, at 6 p.m. every Friday at St. John’s United Methodist Church, 1207 Peabody Ave. The Way focuses on recovery, encouragement, and hope. Music is a key component of the service with many local musicians stopping by to perform. The fire truck is coming to Church Health Center Wellness, 1115 Union, from 6-7 p.m. on Monday, October 6! The 27th Annual Outdoors Inc. Cyclocross Championship will kick off at 8 a.m. on November 9 on the banks of the Mississippi River. This is the longest-running and most-prestigious cyclocross event in the U.S.A., and proceeds benefit the Church Health Center. Log on to to register.

In observance of World Cancer Day 2014, St. Jude, the YMCA of Memphis and the Mid-South, the Tennessee Cancer Coalition (TC2) and the Shelby County Health Department will host a Health Fair at the Shelby Farms Visitors Center Saturday, February 1, from 9 a.m. to noon. Throughout the morning, fitness and nutrition experts will discuss how incorporating regular exercise and making sound food selections that include a variety of foods each day, is essential to a healthy lifestyle. Local organizations will have informational booths onsite to provide fun activities such as yoga and a fun run. You are invited to take part in this morning of fitness and education.


This is a contract position working at the pool at the Bartlett Recreation Center.  This position is not eligible for City benefits.  Will work under the direct supervision of the Aquatics Manager.  Will be responsible for maintaining a working level of knowledge about water exercise and instructional techniques.  Will be required to lead water exercise classes throughout the year.  Will be required to prepare pool space for classes, set up required equipment, assist participants by providing required forms and information concerning schedule or health questions.


Must be certified through AEA, USWFA, Arthritis Foundation, or equivalent certification. Must possess current American Red Cross CPR, AED and Emergency Oxygen certifications. American Red Cross PDT certification preferred, but not required. Must have thorough knowledge of water exercise format and the ability to work independently. Must have one year of experience instructing water aerobics.

Special Requirements

Will be required to pass a background check and a physical exam, including a drug screen. Must be at least 16 years of age. Will work in a non-smoking work environment. Bartlett resident preferred, but not required.
