Early Head Start Teacher (2 openings)

Minimum Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED, Child Development Associate (CDA in Infants and Toddler Endorsement required); previous work experience with ages 6 weeks to 3 years. Must have knowledge of Health Department standards for food preparation, storage, and cleanliness. Teacher will have the responsibilities of being the primary caregiver for one group of (4) four children in Goodwill Homes’ Early Head Start classroom. Must be computer literate, knowledgeable in MS Office and meet all applicable child care workers licensing requirements, i.e., background check and drug screening. Good organizational and effective oral communication skills to determine workload priorities. Minimum, 21 years of age. Work Schedule: 8 hours a day Monday – Friday.

Infant/Toddler Teacher Floater (1 opening)

Minimum Education & Experience: High School Diploma or GED, Child Development Associate (CDA in Infants and Toddler Endorsement required); previous work experience with ages 6 weeks to 35 months.  Must have knowledge of Health Department standards for food preparation, storage, and cleanliness.  Floater will have the responsibilities of working with the primary caregiver with the maximum of (7) seven children in the Early Head Start and the Learning Center Infant/Toddler’s classrooms. Must be computer literate, knowledgeable in MS Office and meet all applicable child care workers licensing requirements, i.e., background check and drug screening. Good organizational and effective oral communication skills to determine workload priorities. Minimum, 21 years of age. Work Schedule: 8 hours a day Monday – Friday.

Memphis Mayor A C Wharton, Jr. and his wife, Attorney Ruby Wharton, are seeking nominations for the Ruby R. Wharton Award to honor exceptional women who have made outstanding contributions to the Memphis area.
The awards will be presented by Mayor Wharton during the Twelfth Annual Tea and Talk at the Top on Sunday, February 9, 2014 at 3:00 p.m., in City Council Chambers.

The Ruby R. Wharton Award, established in 2005, recognizes women who have unselfishly worked to improve the quality of life for others and made significant strides in the following areas:

QUALIFICATIONS *HSD/GED with a current CDA(Infant Toddler Endorsement) is required; or *Associates Degree in Early Childhod Education preferred *Previous work experience is preferred. *CPR and First Aid certification is preferred. *Knowledge of Health Department standards for food preparation, storage, and cleanliness *Ability to contribute to a team effort by performing other duties as assigned, i.e relieving existing teachers during break periods and implementing curriculum. *Good organizational skills to determine workload priorities. * Effective oral and written communication skills to effectively communicate with diverse groups. * Ability to perceive and deal with sensitive issues while maintaining confidentiality and objectivity.

Floater – Memphis, TN

DESCRIPTION The Floater will recruit families and will prep and serve home style meals for the children in the PL Early Head Start Center; assist with kitchen operations as needed; will maintain cleanliness of the kitchen area; will relieve teachers during breaks and serve as classroom substitute as needed.

 

QUALIFICATIONS *High school diploma or G.E.D. with a current CDA (Infant Toddler Endorsement) is required; Associates Degree in Early Childhood Education is preferred. *Previous Early Head Start experience is preferred. * Knowledge of Health Department standards for food preparation, storage, and cleanliness. *Ability to contribute to a team effort by performing other duties as assigned, i.e. relieving existing teachers during break periods and implementing curriculum. *CPR & First Aid certification is preferred. *Able to provide a continuum of care to children ages 0 to 3 with or without disabilities. *Good oral and written communication skills to include good reading skills. *Good organizational skills. Task oriented. *Ability to adhere to schedules and specific time tables. * Ability to work a heavy workload, under pressure of conflicting deadlines and competing needs. *Demonstrates emotional maturity and sensitivity to the needs and interests of others.
