The Program and How To Apply:

This application is for paid spring internship opportunity located on campus at ALSAC’s LeMoyne-Owen College Call Center.
ALSAC offers part-time paid internships (20 hours per week) each semester with flexible shifts.

Flexible Shift Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 12:00-4:00 pm and 5:00-9:00 pm.

Mandatory Training Schedule:
Monday through Friday, 12:00-4:00 pm or 5:00-9:00 pm for first 2 weeks of internship. Must be able to fully commit to training period. Training is located at Crosstown Concourse.

Tentative Start Date: February 2020

Must be able to maintain confidentiality.
Must be actively enrolled at LeMoyne-Owen College and must be 18 years of age.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must be a student in good standing and a sophomore or higher
  • For positions at the ALSAC National Executive Office in Memphis, TN, you must be able to relocate during the internship time frame
  • Must be able to start Monday, September 16, 2019
  • Requires a degree of judgement; ability to speak and write clearly and concisely for communication with internal and external relationships.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

ACT Summer Prep Intensive

The Teen Service’s College and Career Readiness team is hosting an ACT Summer Prep Intensive at the Benjamin Hooks Central Library.

You must visit www.memphislibrary.org, click on the tile labeled “ACT Summer Prep Intensive” to begin the application process and register.

During this eleven session summer series, learn test-taking strategies, calculator shortcuts, and more! Registration will be open during the month of May. Please be sure to register for the event as seating is limited. Session drop-ins are welcome, if space is available. Keep in mind space may not be available for drop-ins during any given session. Availability for drop-ins is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Students are encouraged to bring their own calculators. A small number of calculators will be available for in-class use for students that do not own one.

LOCAL and FREE : 2019 ACT Prep Session #Memphis

MOOLAH TEMPLE NO. 54, MOOLAH COURT NO. 22 & DELTA MU CHAPTER, PHI DELTA KAPPA, INC.

Open slots for 200 students for all youths in the surrounding areas which includes Arkansas and Mississippi.  Please be sure to fill out the attached registration form.

2019 Saturdays “Prep for Success Workshops” at Melrose High School located 2870 Deadrick Avenue. Each student will have an opportunity to review the four (4) basic content areas that are covered on the test. They will build their test taking skills and they will participate in a “mock” test under strict test conditions. Answers will be scored and given to the student so they may assess their strengths and weakness prior to taking the official ACT test. Please note: the first official 2019 ACT test will be Saturday, February 9, 2019.

Grades 9-12.  These three (3) sessions are free and comes with a free continental breakfast and lunch which will be served to participating students at each session.

Marjorie Watson Mathematics Scholarship

The University of Tennessee-Chattanooga is offering one $5000 scholarship for an incoming freshman who majors in mathematics at the University of Tennessee- Chattanooga. This scholarship is worth $5000 over four years. Application information can be found HERE.

 

Bossy Is As Bossy Does Scholarship Foundation
 
For 2018-2019 School Year
 
Seeking to award $250 to 2 full-time students enrolled in any accredited 4-year undergraduate college or university. This scholarship is available to all classifications majoring in Marketing, Management, Business Administration, Elementary Education, Secondary Education, or Special Education.
 
Requirements:
 
– Have a current GPA of 2.8 or higher
– Complete a 500 word essay. Essay Topic: Explain the importance of (your major) in today’s society.
