NATIONAL STAND BESIDE HER WEEK EVENTS – SUPPORT WOMEN AND GIRLS

Memphis, TN – Girl Scouts Heart of the South invites the public to join us to celebrate National Stand Beside Her Week during October 25–31, 2015. National Stand Beside Her Week is a nationwide initiative designed to inspire women to support, encourage and mentor other women in their careers and their lives.

Why do we need National Stand Beside Her Week? Because despite decades of progress, women are still under-represented in leadership roles in our nation’s government, business and industry.  Girl Scouts Heart of the South is encouraging women and businesses to take one or more of the following positive actions next week:

  • Enter the nationwide I Stand Video Contest:

Show us how you Stand Beside Her in the I Stand Video Contest and you could win an amazing getaway for four to Universal Studios Orlando! Contest page, submission and official rules are available online at http://cp.mcafee.com/d/5fHCN8SyMM-VsQsFKe6Pqaaab3WrXz9J5555xZdN54SrdCRvlm9OFe74qCjrdJs5rFCzBAld7dSr-xtMl7f9I2H5A4hntZ4l7ceKeKS79L8WrdCPpI04hB4-BGJPEjFM07a42oGpAxZjpIQsFI6PtPqpJUTsTsSyrh.

Join the national conversation on Twitter on Wednesday, October 28 at 8 p.m. Central Daylight Time. We will discuss ways to created more collaboration between women. Use the #StandBesideHer hashtag to participate in the conversation.

As the premiere girls’ leadership organization in the Mid-South, Girl Scouts Heart of the South created National Stand Beside Her Week to combat these negative attitudes among women and girls.  Only by changing the attitudes absorbed by girls and teens will women feel free to develop to their full academic, career and leadership potential.
