Requirements

  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • Must be actively enrolled in an accredited college or university
  • Must be a student in good standing and a sophomore or higher
  • For positions at the ALSAC National Executive Office in Memphis, TN, you must be able to relocate during the internship time frame
  • Must be able to start Monday, September 16, 2019
  • Requires a degree of judgement; ability to speak and write clearly and concisely for communication with internal and external relationships.
  • Requires good oral and written communication skills, knowledge of Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, and Power Point.
  • Must be able to maintain confidentiality.

We are looking for some talented individuals to join our staff for our writing internship program.

We have a significant change for the next intern class! We will be changing the internship program from a semester to a full academic year.

The program runs from September 3rd through April 27th, 2020.
This is an unpaid academic internship, with the expectation of 10 hours per week in our office, to be scheduled based on your availability (and you’re welcome to be in the office as much as you’d like beyond that!). Hours spent working with us can count for volunteer/community service hours.

Choose901 Intern Job Description – Writer

You’ll have the opportunity to write, edit, and publish posts on our website, receiving detailed feedback from our editorial team.

Things You Will Learn:

  • Writing: Taking your story from pitch to publish.
  • Marketing: How to take your stories from published to the great beyond!
  • Analytics: How to analyze your work and its performance, and how to turn that into actionable insights for the next story.
  • Execution: Using the digital tools available to accomplish your vision.
  • Professionalism: How to work well in an office with other people.

General Expectations for Writing Interns:

  • Write 2-3 blogs per week.
  • Proofread 3 blogs from other interns, offering critique.
  • Submit at least 2 photos for Instagram or other social media platforms, with captions.
  • Join us for weekly editorial meetings to be scheduled based on cohort availability.
  • 10 hours (or more) a week of presence in the Choose901 office in the Crosstown Concourse.

Saturday, September 7 , 2019, 12 pm-5 pm at Handy Park (200 Beale St), the American Kidney Fund will be holding their signature event, Kidney Action Day (KAD) in Memphis.  This is a free community event.

KAD *is a free, family-friendly event with a serious purpose: helping people understand their risk for kidney disease and how to prevent it. This event will include free health screenings, cooking demonstrations and samplings, fitness demonstrations, and family friendly activities.  Our goal is to make an immediate impact in the Memphis area by screening up to 300 people for diabetes, high blood pressure and kidney disease.
