STEM Program Offers a Free Trip to Washington DC for Memphis Students
 
Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering (MASE) is launching an after-school STEM program called R3: Rockets, Robotics, and Arithmetic on September 27, 2017. This is a free after-school program for 6th – 12th grade and is available to public, private, and home-school students. Approximately 200 students will be selected to join.
 
R3 participants will receive weekly STEM instruction in preparation to compete in the following regional and national competitions: VEX Robotics, Lego Mindstorm, First Robotics, SeaPerch Underwater Robotics, TARC Model Rocketry, and NASA Human Exploration Rover Challenge. In addition, participants will be given the opportunity to travel in the summer to see how STEM works in the real world. The summer trips to places like the Discover Park of America, Nissan and GM factories, US Space and Rocket Center are designed to allow students greater exposure to STEM disciplines.
 
The R3 Project Director of, Cameron Cooley, and R3 Site Coordinator, Marquita Wakefield will be accepting interest applications beginning August 25, 2017. Please go to tinyurl.com/r3atmase to download application or apply in person at Memphis Academy of Science and Engineering main office.
 
R3: Rockets, Robotics, & Arithmetic is a free program to Memphis residents who children are in public, private, and home-school institutions. Food is provided to all participants at no cost to parents. In addition, forty plus students will be given the opportunity to win a free trip to Washington, DC at the end of the school year.
