Elementary Instructors
STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School is currently seeking Highly Qualified, classroom teachers with an Apprentice or Professional Tennessee Teaching License in Education. Qualified applicants must have the following: • A genuine love for children • A Sense of passion and urgency for educating urban youth • High academic and social expectations for self and students • Excellent classroom management skills • In-depth knowledge and skill in alignment of instruction to the Common Core Standards • Effective use of evidence-based strategies for instruction • Evidence of skillful implementation of a balanced literacy program • Effective use of data to inform instruction • Experience with meeting the needs of ALL levels of students within a classroom setting and closing the learning gap with students performing below grade level • Highly skilled in student and parent relations • Highly collaborative, innovative, flexible, and adaptive • Experience/knowledge in preparing students for high levels of performance on state-mandated assessments-Provide data to display performance
ELL (English Language Learner)
STAR Academy Charter School is currently seeking a certified ELL teacher who is passionate about helping our English Language Learners become proficient in the English language and accessing their grade-level curriculum. Applicants must also be highly skilled in the following areas: • Administering diagnostic and state mandated assessments of English Language Learners. • Evaluating, determining goals for and tracking progress of individual English language learners, and communicating with faculty, students and families. • Maintaining ELL records. • Supporting students. • Providing direct ELL instruction to small groups of students and/or providing inclusion support for ELA classes containing ELL students, based on case load. • Working specifically with ELL students during assigned periods of the day on helping to access general education curriculum and build ELA skills. • Supporting student use of additional technology-enhanced learning tools to support ELL students’ language acquisition. • Advising teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ELL students and sharing best practices to ensure high-quality content instruction and learning is attained.
