Kindergarten Teacher STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School is currently seeking a Highly Qualified, classroom teacher who possesses an Apprentice or Professional Tennessee Teaching License in Elementary Education/Early Childhood Education. Qualified applicants must have a love for young children, passion for urban education, have high academic and social expectations for students, and enjoy collaborating with a team in an innovative environment. Applicants must also be highly skilled in the following areas:
1. Classroom Management
2. Teaching children the foundational skills of reading—Phonemic Awareness, Phonics, Sight Word Fluency, Comprehension, Oral and Written Language, etc.
3. Differentiating Instruction to accommodate all levels of learners
4. In-depth knowledge and skill in alignment of instruction to the Common Core Standards and Effective use of evidence-based strategies for Reading instruction
5. Evidence of skillful implementation of a balanced literacy program
6. Effective use of data to inform instruction
7. Experience with meeting the needs of ALL levels of students within a classroom setting and closing the learning gap with students performing below grade level 8. Highly skilled in student and parent relations
English Language Learners (ELL) Teacher (Part-time) STAR Academy Charter School is currently seeking a certified ELL teacher who is passionate about helping our English Language Learners become proficient in the English language and accessing their grade-level curriculum. Applicants must also be highly skilled in the following areas: Administering diagnostic and state mandated assessments of English Language Learners. Evaluating, determining goals for and tracking progress of individual English language learners, and communicating with faculty, students and families. Maintaining ELL records. Supporting students. Providing direct ELL instruction to small groups of students and/or providing inclusion support for ELA classes containing ELL students, based on case load. Working specifically with ELL students during assigned periods of the day on helping to access general education curriculum and build ELA skills. Supporting student use of additional technology-enhanced learning tools to support ELL students’ language acquisition. Advising teachers on modifying/accommodating curriculum for ELL students and sharing best practices to ensure high quality content instruction and learning is attained.
Teacher Assistant/Co-Teacher STAR Academy Charter School is currently seeking a Highly Qualified teacher assistant to assist the classroom teacher with monitoring student learning, administering academic interventions, and managing day-to-day classroom operations. Qualified applicants must have a passion for urban education, have high academic and social expectations for students, and enjoy collaborating with a team in an innovative environment. Experience with implementing Response to Intervention Programs and preparing students for state mandated tests is a “plus.” Associates Degree or Higher, preferred.
Substitute Teachers STAR Academy College Preparatory Charter School is currently seeking skilled individuals to substitute teach during the 2015-2016 school year.
