Chess Workshops for Adult Beginners

Memphis Public Library and Information Center’s Humanities Department is hosting a Beginners Chess workshop series  for adults. Shelby County Chess instructors Korey Kormick, Matthew Horton, and Christy Kirchner team up to teach 4 free one hour workshops beginning September 22, 2015 thru October 14, 2015. The first workshop in the series will be held on Tuesday 22 September, from 6-7pm in Meeting Room B at the Benjamin Hooks Library, located at 3030 Poplar.  We will ,also, host a Chess Tournament on October 31st from 10 – 3.

The workshops provide comprehensive chess instruction for adults interested in learning to play, or adults who want a refresher on the game. The primary objective of these workshops is for adults to confidently and successfully be able to play chess against others unaided.
