I’m NOT Having a Baby Shower” sponsored by the National Coalition of 100 Black Women- Memphis Chapter and Cigna Health Care- is our 5th annual health and wellness conference that has been designed for teens both male and female ages 12-18. Our goal is to educate, empower, and celebrate with them the benefits of avoiding teen pregnancy and exploring options that generate a lifestyle of positive choices. The theme of the conference this year is CHOICES: Choose Healthy Options Inspire Change Execute Success.
Each teen will be challenged to think beyond their current norms and view their future possibilities with an open mind. We will discuss healthy relationships, STIs/STDs, birth control, career and higher education options, the struggles of teen parenthood and much more.
This will be an open and honest event for the participants to talk about their feelings and experiences and to learn more about what they can do to have the most promising futures possible. Parents are welcome, but they will be on another track to ensure they are aware of financial empowerment, FAFSA information, and “How to talk to your teen about intercourse and dating”.
This conference will be held at Wooddale High School located at 5151 Scottsdale Ave, Memphis, TN 38118 on April 18th, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Registration for attendees is available online.
