Did you know there are over 1100 children in foster care in Shelby County. They live in our neighborhoods, attend local schools and worship in our congregations. Unfortunately, few citizens understand the magnitude of the issue or what foster care is all about.
We invite you to attend our 3RD Annual Foster Care Awareness Brunch & Forum to encourage and educate the community on the foster care system that will help answer many questions as well as dispel myths associated with foster care.
“We are Taking a Stand for Foster Care” to
- Raise AWARENESS about the magnitude of the issue and the urgent and sustaining needs of children and older youth in foster care and their families;
- Issue a CALL-TO-ACTION that motivates, inspires and facilitates many more to come forward and help change a lifetime for children in foster care;
- Develop a positive framework for maintaining visibility and interest in the foster care issue in SUPPORT OF THE YEAR-ROUND EFFORTS of our local & state Department of Children Services Agency.
