Join us for Professional Development
Memphis Heritage Christian School has graciously agreed to host 4 professional development training sessions this Spring. The trainings will be held in their fellowship hall and space is limited so register early. They are located at 3802 Gragg Ave., Memphis, TN 38108 (near the Shelby County Schools’ North Area Office).
There is no cost to register but everyone must register to attend. You can register by emailing your registration form to memphisheritage@yahoo.com or Stephanie.angotti@tn.gov. If you cannot email your registration form, you may register by calling Memphis Heritage Christian School and speaking with the director, Ms. Nelson. Their phone number is 901-377-7536.

Talk about Touching (state approved personal safety curriculum)
Overview: All programs serving 3 & 4 year old students must teach a state approved personal safety curriculum annually. All VPK funded Pre-k programs must use Talk about Touching. Teachers must be trained to teach Talk about Touching.
Who should attend: all new teachers and any teachers that have not been trained previously, assistants are also welcome to attend
What should I bring: Talk about Touching kit (if it has already been bought/delivered)
12:30pm-4:00pm
Classroom Management with Social Emotional strategies (intro/review of CSEFEL)
Overview: A review of setting appropriate expectations and procedures as well as a look at incorporating social and emotional development into classroom management.
Who should attend: all new teachers & assistants, current teachers & assistants that are struggling with classroom management
What should I bring: copy of most recent daily schedule and currently used discipline plan

Developmentally Appropriate Centers for any Budget
Overview: Understanding developmentally appropriate and a look at how to create cheap, fun, developmentally appropriate activities for your centers as well as which items you should spend money to get for your centers. We will also look at ways to make parents/administrators understand how “playing” meets state standards.
9:00am-12:00am Infant/Toddler session
Who should attend: all infant/toddler teachers & assistants, directors of programs with infant/toddler classes, & parents of children in this age group as well as expecting parents are also welcome to attend
What should I bring: lesson plans & curriculum guides (teachers/assistants), evaluation rubrics (administrators)
1:00pm-5:00pm Preschool (ages 2 ½ to 5 years) session
Who should attend: teachers & assistants that work with these age groups, directors of early childhood programs, & parents of children in this age group are also welcome to attend
What should I bring: lesson plans & curriculum guides (teachers/assistants), evaluation rubrics (administrators)
